How AI works

Credits, what runs on its own, the Settings › AI tab, and what keeps working at 0.

LinkVolv never spends an AI credit without your choice. Every price shows on the button, every result is labeled, and your credit history lists everything that ran.

What a credit is

A credit is one AI action. Free has 20 one-time credits; Plus gets 500 a month and Pro 1,000. The credits pill at the top of the app shows what is left, and its popover shows where they went.

What costs what

  • Summary — 1 credit
  • Chat message (Pro) — 10 credits
  • Tag suggestions, Improve with AI on search — 1 credit on Free, when you press the button
  • Search by meaning — free on every plan

Included on Plus and Pro

PlusPro

Tag and folder suggestions and AI search never cost credits on Plus and Pro. They still show an “AI suggested” or “Improved with AI” label, and appear in the history as included.

Automatic or only when you click

On your first save after upgrading, LinkVolv asks once how AI should work for you: Automatic (summaries when you open a bookmark, suggestions and AI search as you go) or Only when I click. Until you answer, every AI action is a button. When you import, you choose separately: summarize when you open them (no credits now), summarize the newest ones now, or not at all.

The Settings › AI tab

Change the choice any time, row by row: suggestions, AI search, and when summaries run (when you open one, on every new save, or only when you press Generate). The same tab holds your credit history.

Pausing and the 20% rule

The Pause automatic AI switch (in Settings › AI and the credits popover) turns every automatic mode into a button. Automatic summaries also pause on their own when 20% of your monthly credits are left; press Resume on the notice to keep them running until the refill.

What keeps working at 0

Nothing breaks

Saving, organizing, syncing, importing, exporting and search by meaning keep working on every plan. Only new summaries and chat wait for the refill — or for an upgrade.

Refills and refunds

  • Monthly credits refill on the 1st and don't roll over.
  • An AI action that fails — for example, a page that can't be read — gives its credit back, shown as a refund in the history.
  • A monthly fair-use limit far above normal use protects the service; if you reach it, AI waits until the 1st.
